Grows in deciduous and coniferous forest throughout the Nordic region.
Notes
Tricholoma saponaceum is a complex of several different species which, in addition to T. saponaceum s. str., also includes T. atrovirens, T. boudieri and T. rapipes.
Similar species
Can be difficult to identify because of the large variation in form and colour. The best character is that the whole fruitbody develops reddish-brown to salmon-pink spots with age.
