Characteristics

- Cap convex to expanded, pale yellow to yellow-grey, slimy.
- Tubes dirty yellow with angular pores.
- Stem dirty yellow, with a slimy ring that soon becomes brown from the spores.

Ecology

Grows with pine in damp coniferous forest, often in bog moss.

Notes

Not poisonous but without much food value.

Similar species

May possibly be confused with Suillus luteus, but that species has butter-yellow tubes and a thin, membranous ring on the stem.
