Alder Scalycap

– Cap yellow, convex to expanded.
– Gills adnate to decurrent, yellow, soon rust-brown when the spores mature.
– Stem yellow, brownish towards the base.
– The stem sometimes has a thin and fibrous ring zone.
– Taste mild, scent sweetish.

Grows on stumps of birch and alder, sometimes other tree species, in deciduous and mixed forests.

Not a poisonous species, but should not be eaten.
