Ecology
Pasture, dry meadow and sandy grass heath, preferably on sandy ground.
Notes
Edible, but not as good as its relative Macrolepiota procera.
Similar species
Macrolepiota mastoidea has a more distinct and steeper umbo on the cap, and a stem with small scales. Leucoagaricus leucothites is white, yellowish-white to greyish-white, and lacks scales on the cap.
