Ecology
Grows in pastures, parks and open deciduous woodland on nutrient-rich soil. Forms fairy rings.
Notes
Sometimes reported as edible, but in that case should be parboiled before cooking as it can otherwise cause nausea.
Similar species
Pseudoclitopilus rhodoleucus is a rare relative that has a pink tinge on the gills and is usually somewhat smaller in size.
