Ecology
Grows among moss in damp places in deciduous and mixed forest. Relatively common in the southern and central Nordic region.
Notes
Older analyses have reported low levels of hydrazines, but later analyses have not confirmed the presence of gyromitrin. The species should be regarded as inedible/without food value.
Similar species
May resemble Craterellus tubaeformis and Craterellus lutescens, but Leotia lubrica does not have a funnel-shaped cap and also lacks ridges on the underside of the cap.
