Characteristics

Ecology

Grows with beech, oak, and hazel, often on calcareous clayey soil in sun-exposed, warm locations.

Notes

Edible but not recommended for picking due to its rarity.

Similar species

Craterellus cornucopioides and C. sinuosus may appear similar, but they both lack distinct branched ridges.
