Characteristics

– Cap white to grayish-white, often pruinose, with a dew-like, powdered coating.
– Gills decurrent, white to cream-colored, soon becoming pink-tinged with age due to the spores.
– Stipe whitish–grey.
– The entire mushroom has a strong farinaceous smell (like wet flour).

Ecology

Grows in coniferous and deciduous forests, pastures, and parks among grass, preferably in open spaces.

Notes

A delicious edible mushroom with a strong floury scent, decurrent gills, and pink spore deposit. However, be cautious of poisonous look-alikes.

Similar species

Entoloma sinuatum is larger and more robust, has adnexed gills, poisonous.
Clitocybe rivulosa is similar but has white spores, poisonous.
