Ecology
Grows in large groups and fairy rings in coniferous forests, deciduous forests, composts, gardens, and parks. Usually appears late in the mushroom season, in September-October.
Notes
Sometimes reported as edible, but it can cause nausea and should therefore be boiled before preparation.
Similar species
It could possibly be confused with other Clitocyboid species, but the typical floral scent and the powdered sugar-like coating on the cap are good distinguishing features.
