Characteristics
Ecology
Grows in large clusters in mossy coniferous forests and lichen-rich pine forests, usually with pine. It is not uncommon in northern Europe.
Notes
Edible when young but becomes bitter and unappetizing as it ages. It may have a slightly laxative effect, especially if consumed in large quantities or when using older specimens.
