- Fruitbody coral-like, branched, whitish, 8-15 cm tall.
- Base stout, with cream-coloured branches that when young have a faint reddish-lilac tone on the pointed tips.
- Flesh compact, white, with a bitter taste and spicy smell.

Ecology
Grows in both deciduous and coniferous forest, often on calcareous soil. In the southern Nordic region mainly in beech forest, farther north mainly in herb-rich calcareous coniferous forest.
Notes
Mildly poisonous, can cause nausea and temporary stomach upset.
Similar species
Several Ramaria species can develop pale and whitish fruitbodies with age. This applies both to those that are usually yellow and to those that have reddish branch tips when young (Ramaria botrytis s.lat.).
