Characteristics
Ecology
Grows in coniferous and deciduous forests throughout Europe. Some years, it appears in large quantities during so-called "karljohanår" (porcini years).
Notes
Suitable for various types of cooking, good in sauces and soups. Can be dried for long-term storage.
Similar species
Tylopius felleus is similar but has a darker network and a bitter taste.
