Ecology
Grows mainly in gardens, composts, woodchip piles and flowerbeds, sometimes also in deciduous and coniferous forests.
Notes
Not highly toxic but can cause temporary nausea.
Similar species
C. rachodes and C. olivieri are similar, but they have a double-layered ring and lack a distinctly marginate bulb at the stem base.
