Characteristics

– Flesh white, yellowish just under the cap skin.

Ecology

Grows with spruce in coniferous and mixed forests.

Notes

Contains toxins affecting the nervous system, causing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, convulsions, and palpitations.

Similar species

Sometimes confusion occurs between Amanita and Macrolepiota species, but the latter always have dark scales on a light colored cap.
