– Cap at first grayish-white, later gray-brown and with pinkish spots.
– Tubes yellow.
– Pores at first yellow, later turning orange to reddish, bruising blue.
– Stem pale yellowish with red reticulate network, often wine-red towards the base.
– Flesh whitish-yellowish, often reddish in the stem base, slightly blueing and with a spicy scent reminiscent of chicory or bouillon, especially pronounced when drying.
